On Saturday, November 9, 2024, we had the immense honor of welcoming Geshe Atong Rinchen Gyaltsen la, a member of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, to our Jamyang Lophel School in Antwerp. This visit, which came as part of his official delegation trip to Switzerland, offered him an opportunity to witness firsthand the work of the Tibetan Cultural Center (TCC) in Belgium.
Geshe la expressed a keen interest in understanding the initiatives led by the TCC to preserve Tibetan culture and language among the younger generation. His visit marked a moment of pride and inspiration for our community, as it reinforced the significance of our efforts to sustain our heritage in the diaspora.
During his time with us, Geshe la toured all the classrooms, observing our dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students in action. He later joined the teachers for a meaningful conversation, emphasizing the critical importance of preserving the Tibetan identity, culture, and language for future generations.
In his remarks, Geshe la acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Tibetan community in enriching Belgium’s cultural diversity. He lauded the tireless efforts of the TCC, its educators, and its volunteers in nurturing the spirit of Tibetan identity among children. His words of encouragement and support inspired everyone present, strengthening our resolve to continue this vital work.
We deeply appreciate Geshe la for taking time from his busy schedule to visit us and recognize the impact of our collective efforts. His visit was a reminder of the significance of our mission and the unity it fosters among the Tibetan community in Belgium.
As we look to the future, the TCC remains committed to its goals of cultural and linguistic preservation. Geshe la’s visit serves as a motivation to continue working with even greater determination, ensuring that our children not only learn but also take pride in their Tibetan roots.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Geshe Atong Rinchen Gyaltsen la for his inspiring presence and support.
