General Assembly of the Tibetan Cultural Center – January 5, 2025

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the Tibetan Cultural Center (TCC) held its annual General Assembly in Brugge. The meeting ran from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The TCC organizes this assembly every year at the beginning of January to review the past year’s activities and set the agenda for the upcoming year’s programs and initiatives.

The meeting began with an opening speech by Mr. Jigmey Denwa, the President of TCC. In his address, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the center’s rules and regulations, which serve as the foundation for its smooth operation and growth. He also reminded everyone of the responsibilities assigned to each board member and highlighted the significance of respecting these roles for the betterment of the organization.
Mr. Jigmey then reviewed the resolutions from last year’s meeting, discussing achievements as well as areas where goals were not fully met.

Following this, Mr. Lhakpa Tsering, the Education Director, provided an update on the status of TCC’s weekend schools and outlined the center’s education policies.

During the discussion, attendees actively contributed, addressing each agenda point in detail. The assembly successfully reached agreements on several key projects for the year, including:

• Publishing a new Tibetan language textbook.
• Organizing the annual summer camp in Belgium.
• Planning the second trip to India for 30 graduating students, scheduled from July 10 to August 10, 2025.

Building on the success of the 2023 trip to Dharamsala, this initiative aims to inspire students to connect deeply with their heritage and contribute to their community.
The meeting concluded successfully, leaving everyone feeling re-energized and motivated to work towards the center’s goals in the coming year.
