On Sunday, January 12, 2025, the Tibetan Cultural Center (TCC) in Belgium held a special event: the mid-year examination for six weekend schools under the Jamyang Lophel School program. This important day brought together students, teachers, and parents to assess how well the children are learning the Tibetan language and to inspire everyone to stay committed to preserving our cultural heritage.
The Tibetan language is the foundation of our identity. It connects us to our rich history, traditions, and values. By learning Tibetan, children gain the ability to read sacred texts, understand traditional stories, and communicate in their mother tongue. These skills help them stay connected to their roots and strengthen the Tibetan community as a whole.
The mid-year and final-year exams are key parts of TCC’s efforts to promote high-quality Tibetan education. These exams help teachers understand each student’s progress and highlight areas where they need extra support. At the same time, they encourage children to work harder and remind parents of the importance of their involvement in their child’s learning journey.
Organizing exams across six schools at the same time is a big achievement. It shows the dedication of TCC’s volunteer teachers, school coordinators, and parents. Their hard work and teamwork make it possible for children to continue learning Tibetan, even while living far from Tibet.
This exam day also sends an important message: preserving the Tibetan language is not just about learning words and grammar. It’s about keeping our culture alive for future generations. Together, we can ensure that our children grow up with a strong sense of their Tibetan identity.
Congratulations to all the students, teachers, and parents who participated in the mid-year examination. This event is a proud moment for the Tibetan community in Belgium and a step forward in preserving our language and culture.
