Brussels, Belgium – Sunday, 31st August 2025 –
The Tibetan Cultural Center (TCC) in Belgium hosted a heartfelt and meaningful celebration to mark “Thank You, Teacher Day” and to honor the Year of Compassion, dedicated to the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This special day served not only as a tribute to educators but also as a reaffirmation of core Tibetan values: compassion, wisdom, and cultural preservation.
The event was initiated and sponsored by Patrul Rinpoche, who also served as the main guest of the occasion. His presence, along with members of the TCC and teachers from six Tibetan schools, made the celebration deeply significant and spiritually enriching.
Rinpoche delivered a powerful message emphasizing the importance of Buddhist teachings and the urgent need to preserve the Tibetan language and culture. His words served as a spiritual reminder of the vital role each individual plays in sustaining the rich heritage of Tibet.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of a special message from the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India, received during the TCC’s educational visit to India in July 2025. This message offered heartfelt encouragement to all members and teachers of the TCC. Filled with blessings and support, it urged everyone to continue their efforts in education, compassion, and the preservation of Tibetan identity. For the TCC, this message held deep significance and was considered the spiritual heart of the entire event.
As a token of appreciation for their years of dedicated service, TCC offered each teacher a copy of the book “Voice for the Voiceless” along with a traditional white Katak scarf—a symbol of gratitude, respect, and good wishes.
Another guest speaker, Metok Rinpoche, spoke with deep reverence about the essential role of teachers in preserving Tibetan identity through education. He encouraged continued dedication and unity within the community, especially among the younger generation.
The event concluded with prayers, offerings, and warm exchanges among participants, leaving everyone inspired and spiritually uplifted. It was a beautiful reminder of the timeless values of compassion, education, and cultural pride—values that lie at the heart of His Holiness’s teachings and the mission of the Tibetan Cultural Center.
