Tibetan Identity Preservation Week in Brussels

27 September 2026 — Brussels, Belgium

On 27 September 2026, our Tibetan Weekend School in Brussels had the great honour of welcoming the Office of Tibet, Brussels, as part of the Tibetan Identity Preservation Week initiative.

We are deeply grateful to the Office of Tibet for bringing this meaningful project to our young children and for creating an opportunity for the next generation to learn about, understand, and appreciate their Tibetan heritage.

For our community, preserving Tibetan identity is more than simply remembering our past. It is about keeping our language, culture, traditions, values, history, and unique identity alive for future generations. Our weekend school plays an important role in this mission by providing children with a space where they can learn the Tibetan language and culture while growing up in a European environment.

The visit and activities organised during Tibetan Identity Preservation Week reminded us of the importance of giving our children a strong connection to their roots. Through education, cultural activities, stories, language, and shared experiences, we can help the younger generation understand where they come from and why preserving their heritage matters.

We are especially thankful that the Office of Tibet chose to engage directly with our children. Such initiatives encourage our young people to take pride in their Tibetan identity and inspire them to become the future custodians of our culture.

We believe that a culture survives when it is passed from one generation to the next. Our responsibility today is to create the opportunities and foundations that allow our children to carry this heritage forward with confidence and pride.

We sincerely thank the Office of Tibet, Brussels, for this valuable opportunity and for supporting our efforts to preserve Tibetan culture and identity. We hope that this new project will continue to grow and inspire many more Tibetan children and families in Brussels and beyond.

Preserving our identity today is an investment in the future of the Tibetan community.

With gratitude,
Tibetan Cultural Center in Belgium
