Strengthening Tibetan Education in Belgium: Teacher Training in Antwerp

On Saturday, 10 October 2026, the Tibetan Cultural Center (TCC) organised a teacher training session in Antwerp, Belgium, for teachers from six different Tibetan schools across Belgium who work with children in their basic-level classes.

For this special occasion, TCC invited two experienced education professionals, Inge and Katleen, from GBS De Klim in Schelle to share their knowledge, teaching methods, and practical classroom experience.

The aim of the training was to help our teachers discover new and effective ways of teaching young children. While Tibetan education has its own rich traditions, teaching Tibetan children growing up in Belgium also requires approaches that respond to their learning needs and the local educational environment.

Through this exchange of knowledge and experience, we hope to bring together the strengths of Tibetan cultural education and effective teaching practices used in Belgian schools. Our goal is to make lessons more engaging, accessible, and enjoyable, while helping children build a strong connection to the Tibetan language, culture, traditions, and heritage.

TCC sincerely thanks Inge and Katleen for sharing their valuable expertise, experience, and enthusiasm. Their contribution is an important step towards strengthening the quality of Tibetan education and supporting teachers in inspiring the next generation of Tibetans growing up in Belgium.
